3-12 High Street, Woking

Blending heritage with urban living on Woking High Street

Surrey / UK

Overview

Regenerating a key town centre site in Woking, the heritage-led design of this co-living development respects the Conservation Area, enhances urban greening and fosters a sense of community.

Alongside 329 co-living studios, a range of shared amenities across this scheme encourage social interaction and include a MasterChef kitchen, gym, co-working space, bar and lounge, and several external landscaped terraces, designed by our in-house Assael Exteriors landscape team.

At ground floor, the residents’ entrance is located along the pedestrianised Chapel Street, whilst the High Street is activated by a new purpose-designed, vibrant community hub for The Lighthouse, a charity that currently occupies the site.

Architecturally, the design retains and refurbishes the locally listed façades and introduces new forms, ranging in height from two to 17 storeys, that respond to the differing layers of history and emerging regeneration in line with the Woking Town Centre Core Strategy.
