GLA select our designs for PRS scheme for Pontoon Dock

Assael Architecture is part of the team along with Bouygues Development and Grainger plc who have won the bid to build this exciting project on the DLR site owned by the Greater London Authority (GLA).

The development is part of the new covenant to relieve pressure on the capital’s housing market and push to raise the standards of private renting.

The 0.69 hectare site within Royal Docks, is in the London Borough of Newham and is currently a public car park and coach stand that will be transformed into more than 200 homes and approximately 11,000 sq ft of non-residential floor space, to include 137 private rented sector homes, 42 for affordable rent and 31 for shared ownership.  The project, which will see the car parking re-provided, will also improve access to the popular Thames Barrier Park.

Assael Architecture Director, Russell Pedley commented:

“We’re delighted to have won this with the team as it demonstrates that housing designed specifically for private rent and professionally managed, requires design differences. This not only delivers operational efficiencies, but crucially can foster building communities and be fun places to live.”
