Wallis House, Great West Quarter
Assael worked closely with Barratt West London to realise a new vision for Wallis House as an iconic residential hub to the Great West Quarter masterplan, while accommodating the client’s offices and a resident’s gym.
A dramatic new contemporary main entrance replaces the poor quality 1960’s lobby, while the creation of generously sized rear courtyard gardens provide a tranquil space for residents to enjoy, New windows replace the poor condition originals and extensive but sensitive repairs to the original fabric and remodelled internals provide unique, individually designed apartments where no two homes are quite the same.
An extensive consultation process and collaboration with the Planners, the Conservation Officer, English Heritage and the 20th Century Society has resulted in a remarkable rejuvenation of one of West London’s most important 20th Century buildings and has been preserved for future generations.
