Wallis House was designed by Thomas Wallis, the same architect as the Firestone Tyre Factory and the National Coach Station at Victoria. The building is typical of many of the grand 1930's factory building along the Great West Road which became known as the Golden Mile.

Designed in 1936 for Simmonds Aerocessories, the building has since been used as headquarter offices for BOAC, Beechams and more recently Glaxo SmithKline.

The Building was listed in 1991 after the treat of partial demolition, and will now be repaired and brought back into use as residential apartments, Headquarter Offices and an art gallery.
