This project was the conversion and refurbishment of the former
Swan/Moulinex factory in the Jewellery Quarter, a conservation area
within Birmingham.
The design re-instated the historical courtyard, prevalent in the
jewellery quarter at the turn of the century. A mixture of uses
- office, workshops, live-work units, affordable apartments and
apartments - was provided to create a diverse and vibrant new series
of buildings. The development includes the refurbishment of the
existing commercial units, the conversion of a building of architectural
merit to residential and the design of a new residential building.
Creative hard landscaping to the public realm emphasise the special
quality of the buildings.
