This was our entry for an international design competition for the regeneration of a mixed-use site in Salford near Manchester. The design was based around planting a forest in the centre of the city, which is then scythed through by buildings. Openness and exclusion, transparency and secrecy are promoted throughout the scheme. The intention was for the mix of uses within the separate buildings to emphasise the energy of the new development.
