This small scheme is for a former pub site next to the old DoE Marsham St
buildings, now occupied by a new headquarters for the Home Office by Terry
Farrell. The design does not try to compete with the scale or language of
this context, but instead offers a discreet, subtle, but still contemporary
piece of urban infill that develops ideas from the practice's other work in
Westminster.
The red-brown brick used on the façade has been chosen to blend in with the
surrounding Conservation Area, but is used with deep reveals and floor to
ceiling windows that emphasise the vertical rhythm of the street. .
