The scheme incorporates ‘winter gardens’ to the properties
along the southern boundary of the site, taking maximum advantage
of solar gain. Heat recovery units and passive ventilation methods
are used to redistribute heat build-up within the space and circulate
this through the habitable spaces. South facing roof slopes are
inclined at 40º, designed to accommodate solar panels for water
heating and photovoltaic panels for communal electricity.
The scheme has been designed to the Housing Corporation’s
Scheme Development Standards, and will achieve an EcoHomes ‘Very
Good’ rating.
